Tips on the Support Expected From a Web Hosting Company
There are two main type of support that you absolutely have the right to seek and know that they are there: Technical Support and Customer Support. There are other sub-categories that will fall under each of these two main categories. Some issues will actually fall under both categories at once as they will require that both technical support to repair a problem in the web site’s script or design and issues that involve you not being able to access your own website and/or the control panel that allows you to make the necessary change to your website as things change around you.
You really need to know that you can rely on your web hosting company to be there when there are problems of any type that you have tried to repair but have not been able to fix on your own. This is the time when you need to know that you will always be able to contact someone with any questions and/or concerns that may come about. In the Technical Support department, you need to know that you can always reach a tech support specialist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 365 days a year (24/7/365) or basically any time that you have a problem. The things that you need to be able to get technical support on are web scripts running slow, slow log-in time, unauthorized changes made to your web page, not being able to access your account (which actually falls under both technical and customer support), not being able to understand or access the web site’s control panel and not being able to make the necessary changes to your web site as needed.
The other type of support that you really need to be sure is there for you with any web hosting company and account is a good customer support staff and department that is able to answer any and all questions that are related to your account and accessing that account. There are going to be times that you will have trouble even accessing your account information on the web hosting company’s web site and even on your own web site. This is one of the times that you definitely need to be able to get someone on the phone to talk to!
You need to ask right up front if there will always be someone on duty around the clock in both the technical and customer support departments that you can call upon if or when you run into a problem that you just cannot figure out how to solve on your own. Ask for the names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses for the main technical support and customer support staff members and also ask if there are other staff member of each department that are also “on call” during the off hours (over night and weekends and holidays). If you are not able to get this information right up front, then you will want to think twice about even going with that web hosting company.
